In the heart of the North West, one woman’s journey inspired a safe haven for others.
Lilly, the founder of Watering Your Soul CIC, has walked a hard road. She was abandoned at birth and struggled with poor mental health throughout her youth.
As an adult, she endured domestic abuse and battled substance misuse, even encountering the criminal justice system firsthand. Yet these experiences - as painful as they were - became the roots of her remarkable transformation. Lilly turned her pain into purpose, channeling her hardships into a powerful mission to uplift and empower other women facing trauma.
Drawing on her lived experience, Lilly now specializes in trauma-informed care - conducting healing workshops to support women through their struggles, and sharing her story in motivational talks at schools and colleges to inspire the next generation. Her advocacy soon caught national attention: Lilly even spoke with The Princess of Wales about her work and addressed the UK Parliament on issues affecting women in the justice system.
She also co-hosts a justice-focused podcast, amplifying the voices of women who too often go unheard. Through Watering Your Soul, Lilly continues to foster healing, resilience, and empowerment for women in need.
Founded in 2024, Watering Your Soul CIC is a trauma-informed organisation based in Greater Manchester, North West UK, dedicated to providing vital support to women who have experienced domestic violence, substance misuse, homelessness, or the difficult path through the criminal justice system (including issues like child removal). Every aspect of our work is rooted in understanding and compassion – our organisation operates with a trauma-informed approach that amplifies the voices of women who have faced these challenges.
We know that healing doesn’t only happen between 9 and 5. That’s why Watering Your Soul offers help when others might not – including an out-of-hours crisis line available from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, seven days a week. Whether it’s providing a listening ear or emergency essentials like clothing, a phone, or food, we meet immediate needs to help women regain stability and independent. Our mission is to create a safe space where women can heal, share their experiences, and rebuild their lives on their own terms. Through community support and practical resources, we strive to empower women and foster resilience, ensuring no one has to walk their journey alone

Lilly’s vision has grown into a community effort. She is joined by a dedicated team that share her passion for empowering women. Directors like Asma Begum - herself the founder of a women’s charity - have joined Lilly on this journey. Asma says the mission “deeply resonates” with her, and together the team is committed to making a meaningful impact in women’s lives.
Every member of Watering Your Soul CIC believes in the strength and potential of the women we support. Guided by values of empathy, respect, and hope, we work collectively to nurture each woman’s recovery and growth. Our team’s lived experiences and professional skills create a warm, non-judgmental environment where women can truly flourish.
Watering Your Soul CIC stands as a testament to what can bloom when we water the seeds of resilience. From Lilly’s personal journey to the collective dedication of our team, we remain devoted to one simple truth: with understanding and support, women who have been through the darkest of times can heal, grow, and thrive – and no one in the North West has to do it alone.
